Every 10,000 Miles
Fortunately, the maintenance schedule for your BMW 4 Series is fairly easy to follow. First, you’ll just need to consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual to learn more about its service intervals.
The first interval you’ll find is every 10,000 miles. When you hit this will depend largely on your driving habits, but you can also associate this interval as roughly 12 months. Regardless of when you reach it, though, this interval marks when you should have your engine oil checked and changed. You should also have the oil filter exchanged as well.
Additionally, you should have your tires inspected around the 10,000-mile mark. Along with a likely tire rotation, you should also have your tire pressure adjused, and your tire pressure monitor reset.
Every 20,000 to 30,000 Miles
Around the time you reach 20,000 miles on your odometer, you’ll need to have your ventilation microfilter replaced to ensure all your vehicle’s vents are operating properly. You’ll also need to replace the battery in your remote control keys, although you may be able to get by for longer with this.
By the time you reach 30,000 miles, you’ll have a few more services to take care of, including:
- Replace Air Filter Element
- Replace Spark Plugs
- Check and Top Off Coolant
Every 50,000 Miles
When your BMW 4 Series hits 50,000 miles, all you’ll need to do is have your rear axle differential and transfer case fluids changed.
Every 60,000 Miles
The 60,000-mile mark is one of the busier service intervals for the BMW 4 Series. Along with the same services as the 20,000 and 30,000-mile intervals, you’ll also add on several additional services, such as:
- Replace Front & Rear Brake Pads
- Clean Brake Pad Contact Point in Calipers
- Check or Replace Brake Discs
- Repair/Replace Parking Brake Shoes/Lining
- Replace Brake Fluid
At this juncture, you should take your vehicle in for a comprehensive service check.
Every 150,000 Miles
If your BMW 4 Series is still by your side at the 150,000-mile mark, the only service you’ll need is a check and possible replacement of your vehicle’s oxygen sensor. This’ll help ensure that your engine’s oxygen to fuel ration is properly balanced.
