Compare Features and Specifications

The BMW 5 Series has a 4.4L Twin-Turbo V8 engine, which is available on the M trims of the 5 Series lineup. It’s more powerful than that of the Lexus ES, which only offers a 3.5L V6 engine in its sedan. When it comes to fuel economy, the BMW 5 Series comes out on top with 25 city/33 highway compared to the Lexus ES, which performs a little less than that with only 22 city/32 highway MPG.

The option of burning less gas to travel any distance is always an added benefit when choosing a new car. With 523 horsepower, the BMW 5 Series is a much stronger contender than the Lexus ES, which only offers 302 horsepower. So, when it comes to going from 0 to 60 MPH quicker, the BMW 5 Series is the right sedan for the job.

On top of that, the BMW 5 Series delivers significantly more torque than the Lexus ES. 553 lb-ft of torque is standard for the BMW, while the Lexus only delivers 267 lb-ft of torque. The end result is that the engine in the BMW is far more equipped to work hard to deliver the power and performance you’d expect in a luxury sedan.

Interior

Both sedans comfortably seat up to five passengers, and when it comes to the front-seat headroom, you’ll find the BMW 5 Series to be roomier as it offers 38.8 inches of space. Compared to the Lexus ES, which only measures at 37.5 inches, offering a little less space, the BMW comes out on top.

As for cargo space, you’ll find more room there in the BMW as well, with 14 cubic feet of trunk room compared to only 13.9 cubic feet in the Lexus model. This means you’ll have plenty of room to load your weekend gear or luggage into your new BMW 5 Series for any excursion.
