Every year, J.D. Power comes out with a U.S. Vehicle Dependability StudySM to help consumers decide what brands they might want to buy based on their dependability. The study ranks brands after monitoring their problems per every 100 vehicles (PP100) and notes an industry average—121 PP100 for 2021. Mercedes and BMW are included in this study. How did they rank?

In the J.D. Power 2021 U.S. Vehicle Dependability StudySM, Mercedes-Benz ranked just above the industry average with 122 PP100. Mercedes still outranks other luxury brands, like Audi or Volvo. However, in the same study, BMW did better than Mercedes with only 108 PP100.

Overall, BMW as a brand is more dependable than Mercedes.
